Ms is a title for a woman. It is not dependent on her marital status as miss and Mrs. are. It is not an abbreviation as Mrs. or Mr. are, so it is not followed with a period. It is always capitalized. It may be used with just the family name or the full name. On occasion it is used, usually more familiarly, with just the "first" name.
